The European Federation of National Institutions for Language (EFNIL) has elected three new members to its Executive Committee.
Kozma Ahačič, head of the Fran Ramovš Institute of the Slovenian Language, specializes in the history of linguistics and language use. He is the editor of the dictionary portals Fran and Franček, a lexicographer participating in the making of the Dictionary of the 16th-Century Slovenian Literary Language and the editor of the journal Slovene Linguistic Studies. He is also an author of modern school grammars, a columnist and a music lover.
Dr. Ari Páll Kristinsson, a research professor at The Árni Magnússon Institute for Icelandic Studies, brings expertise in language policy and planning, language ideologies, the description-prescription continuum, and style-shifting. He has previously served as director of the Icelandic Language Institute.
Assoz.-Prof. Dr. Jutta Ransmayr, a professor at the University of Vienna and guest researcher at the Austrian Academy of Sciences, has been a member of the Council for German Orthography since 2011. Her research and teaching interests include language norms and learner corpora; orthography, Austrian German in the context of standard varieties of German as well as corpus linguistics.
