European Language Equality (ELE)

ELE was an EU project in two parts, ELE 1 and ELE 2, where EFNIL acted as partner in both parts. The goal of ELE was to  develop a strategic research, innovation and implementation agenda as well as a roadmap for achieving full digital language equality in Europe by 2030. The primary goal of the follow-up project ELE 2 was to revise, extend and further promote the strategic agenda and roadmap.

In ELE 1 ( January 2021 to June 2022), EFNIL had as its main task to investigate the digital language coverage of European users and consumers and their expectations for the digital future of their languages.

In ELE 2 (July 2022 to June 2023), EFNIL led a survey and wrote a report about the availability of  language resources in European language institutions and acted as project coach for several open call contribution projects.

A thorough description of the project, the strategic research agenda, and all reports are available at https://european-language-equality.eu/.
